Let’s be honest the Commanders are losing, and as a fan, that is not exactly the way I wanted my Sunday to go! When you love your team, you want the wins. You want the touchdowns, the celebrations, the bragging rights, and that feeling of saying, “Yeah, that’s my team!” But football doesn’t work that way. Sometimes your team wins, sometimes they lose, and sometimes you sit on your couch wondering, “What in the world am I watching?”

But I’ve learned that even when the scoreboard isn’t in our favor, there can still be a bright side. The bright side for me is that being a fan isn’t only about what happens on the scoreboard. It’s about the experience. It’s about the conversations, the excitement before kick-off, yelling at the television like the players can actually hear you, and riding the emotional roller coaster with thousands of other fans.

Yes, losing is frustrating. Nobody wants to watch their team struggle. But one bad game or even a rough stretch doesn’t erase the love you have for your team. Every season comes with ups and downs. Players have bad days. Coaches make questionable decisions. Sometimes the ball just doesn’t bounce your way.

And sometimes, losing can show you exactly what needs to change. That’s the bright side I try to see. A loss can be a lesson. It can expose weaknesses, give coaches something to work on, and give players an opportunity to improve. You can’t fix what you refuse to acknowledge. And let’s be real if we only supported our team when they were winning, we’d all be fair weather fans! Being a real fan means hanging in there when things aren’t going the way you hoped.

So, yes the Commanders are losing. Am I happy about it? Nope. I’m still watching. I’m still talking about them. I’m still rooting for them. And I’m still hoping that somewhere down the road, we’re going to look back at these rough moments and say, “Remember when we were struggling? Look at us now!”

At the end of the day, football is football. There will be wins. There will be losses. There will be games that make you want to celebrate and games that make you want to turn the television off and go make yourself a sandwich. But I’m choosing to look for the bright side.

Because being a fan isn’t about jumping ship every time your team loses. It’s about believing that better days can come. It’s about staying hopeful, enjoying the journey, and remembering that there is always another game.

So, Commanders, get yourselves together! Because some of us fans are still sitting here believing in you.

Win, Lose, Or Whatever….I’m still a fan 🏈❤️💙
