Alabama loved working at Blunted Hills, a busy dispensary tucked into the heart of downtown Washington, D.C. She was the employee everyone counted on, the first to volunteer, the last to complain, and one who somehow managed to make every customer feel welcomed.
When her shift finally ended, a few co-workers invited her to unwind after another long day. Alabama almost said no. She was tired. But after a week of nonstop work, she figured she deserved one fun evening.
The city was alive.
Streetlights reflected off the sidewalks, music drifted from nearby restaurants, and people laughed as they filled the streets. Everything felt perfectly normal.
Until it didn’t.
A strange scraping sound echoed behind her.
She glanced over her shoulder.
Nothing.
She kept walking.
Then came another scrape.
This time it was louder.
Her co-workers stopped talking.
“What was that?” one of them whispered.
Before anyone could answer, a massive alligator stepped out from the shadows.
Then another.
And another.
Within seconds, the streets seemed to come alive with giant alligators. They slithered between parked cars, crawled across sidewalks, and blocked every direction Alabama turned. Their yellow eyes locked onto her as if they had been waiting all night.
Someone screamed.
Everyone ran.
Alabama’s heart pounded as she sprinted through downtown Washington, weaving around corners, ducking through narrow alleyways, and desperately searching for safety. Every time she thought she’d escaped, another alligator appeared in front her.
How was this possible?
There weren’t supposed to be alligators in downtown DC.
Yet they kept coming.
The sound of heavy claws striking the pavement grew closer with every step.
Alabama took one last look over her shoulder —
—and froze.
What she saw next made her question everything she thought was real.
Did Alabama escape? Where the alligators real, or was something far more mysterious happening that nigh?
